Oct 15

It's been awhile. It's been a busy weekend/week. R, Z, and I got home last night from a last minute trip to San Antonio. R had a conference, so we tagged along to see family.
Saturday we walked at least 3 miles around Austin, a pretty cool city.  We were hoping we could get some tickets to the Austin City Limits Music Festival, though that was fairly naive. Tickets we're selling in the street for $230 apiece, for one day! Not quite in the budget... That was a little disappointing, but while it's advertised as a family event, I don't think Z would have had any fun, and it was SO loud.

Sunday we had breakfast with my grandparents, visited sea world, and had a really nice family dinner with my aunt, uncle, and 3 of my many cousins at grammas house. She made all the food! Roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli, candied sweet potatoes, rolls, salad, apple sauce, and apple pie!  It was nice to see everyone, but I really have to work hard to make small talk with my cousins that I don't know very well. Luckily they all see each other all the time and we're able to carry conversation without me chiming in too much. Z was pretty entertaining too of course.
Penguins!

Sea World was pretty neat, the park was almost empty, it was great! We were on the same page most if the day so there were few tense moments, which is progress. R and I we're able to ale turns going on the 2 rollercoasters they have. We were able to just walk on each time, no line! We went and watched 2 of the shows, one was all about the orcas, which was pretty neat, and then another which was a play on cirque du soleil, just in the water and with baluga whales and dolphins. Z loved it! He barely slept all day, so we all got a great nights sleep that night.
Ignore the guy in the background...

Monday, R had to go to work, so we were on our own. Z made up for lost sleep by taking 2, 2-hour naps! During the first one, I did a whole hour of self-directed yoga, there were lots of planks involved. My sides still hurt. After his nap, we met up with my family again and ate a good lunch at a local brewery, and then my little cousin Anna, Z, and I swam at the hotel pool while everyone else got some sun. We said our good byes and I went to go pick up R.

Tuesday was a nutzo day, I packed during Z's nap and we checked out of the hotel 3.5 hours before having to pick R up from work. There are no playgrounds! I googled, mapped, looked on any San Antonio website I could find, and all I could find we're play places. That you have to pay for to go inside :-( that makes me sad. I just wanted a small jungle gym and a swing and maybe a slide. It was a beautiful day, 80° and sunny. No playgrounds! While I was searching, Z fell asleep again, so I just sat in the car and read.

Flight home was fine, though since Z napped late, he didn't want to sleep on the plane for awhile. Lots of people in confined spaces makes me edgy, and having a one-year-old who just wants to run around makes me even more tense. I have to work really hard to not flip out and be completey overwhelmed. I just try to remember that expecting a toddler to sit still for 3 hours is kind of an insane thing to ask, and from that perspective, he did great!

We're home now!

Oct 8

Visited with a longtime friend yesterday. We had a great visit, and I learned that she's almost 20 weeks pregnant! So happy for her. We also had a great meeting with our builders! Feels good to be moving forward on this project.

Today I had a good therapy session.

Oct 10

It's fall!  Therapy session on Wednesday was good, we are starting to get into some good stuff! :-/
GrAnnie, Z, and I walked down to the library, where Z was a mad man, trying to pull every book off the shelves, playing with all the toys, and exploring everything.

Thursday, a full day of chores and errands.  Z and I went to Depot Town to get lunch, a milkshake and walk around the park with a friend and her 7 week old baby.  I even went to the gym by myself last night!  It always feels good, but I was tired when I got home.  Tired and cranky...

Today we leave for a rather impromptu trip to San Antonio.  Ross has a work thing Monday and Tuesday, so we're all headed to TX for the weekend to hang out with family, and check out Austin too.  The hotel looks fancy-schmancy, and the weather is sweltering, I'm excited!

Yoga!
Went to yoga for the first time in 9 months or so! It felt good, but I need to be careful. I could tell I was at my limit a few times, my back is just so fragile.

Breakfast at beezy's afterward with friends and family makes for a lovely Sunday morning.

Time for a nap, since Z has decided sleeping overnight is optional...

Oct 4

Went to the gym today.  Man I feel better after doing that.  This week has been all over the place, and while I've taken a few walks, gotten out to the land a few times, I was still feeling pretty crappy.  I spent 2 hours working out, doing cardio, and also working hard on the weights.  It felt good.

Also, Z was pretty hilarious today.  Where are my fingers?!

Trying to convince me he wasn't tired

Friday was a lazy day. It was rainy and chilly. We went out in the evening to check out the land, and grab some yummy dinner with friends.

Oct 2

Ok, one month down.

I have been feeling better and better. Which is pretty great!

Yesterday was a pretty heartbreaking day. We went to a funeral for a friend who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in May. It was too fast. It was sad.

I got out on a long much needed walk earlier today. The first leg was 1.3 miles of speed walking. (I was late) I met up with a friend and we continued our walk for an hour. Around the neighborhood. We had a great talk.

He's huge...
